The name Nyarai (pronounce NA-Rye) "Humility / be humble" derives from the Shona dialect originating from a particular area in Southern Africa where this language is spoken. The collective efforts of Nyarai Cellars strive to craft wines that are sourced from prime Niagara Peninsula vineyards that showcases the purity and elegance of this rich region. The sense of place "terroir" is our particular area. Working closely with winegrowers we strive to produce wines that speak proudly as to where they came from. With minimal intervention during the winemaking process, our wines develop naturally; yielding a product that is true to its varietal character. The cool climate of the Niagara Peninsula along with its diverse soils ranging from limestone, red Jeddo clay and sand offers a bounty of flavours and texture to the fruit from which we make our wines. Our attempt in producing small-lotted artisan wines is our humble contribution to this wonderful wine growing region and its reputation.
